Australian and Asian Missions Association Inc. (AAMA) was founded in 1986 by Dr. Gladwyn Turner and his wife Helen who are the senior pastors and co-founders of Southside Christian Fellowship Sydney. The ministry grew out of the desire to have an organisation that would co-ordinate with churches in Australia and overseas to promote world missions.

They began their first project in India in 1984 with a good friend and native of Kerala, Dr. P J Titus. This was the establishment of an orphanage, school and seminary in India. Other projects and countries quickly followed as others began to catch the vision of church planting and ministering to the needs of those less fortunate. The AAMA Inc., a registered charity in NSW, was formed for fiscal accountability and net working the vision of church planting, educating and giving medical aid to those who are in need of relief overseas as well as at home.
